Radiofrequency
Fractional radiofrequency is a customisable skin resurfacing treatment normalising the skins tone and texture. The device used has two applicators enabling ablation and resurfacing of the skin with non-invasive wrinkle reduction.
WHAT IS RADIOFREQUENCY?
Radiofrequency is an electromagnetic device that that uses an electric current to send heat energy to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin (the dermis). The heat stimulates the tissue enhancing the production of new collagen and elastin and cuases skin contraction. The device tips are designed in such a way so they leave sufficient intact tissue in between the tips to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), making for faster wound healing, therefore requiring minimal downtime.
WHAT DOES RADIOFREQUENCY TREAT?
Fractional radiofrequency works on mild to severe skin conditions reducing the appearance of acne scars, other scars, striae, rosacea, dyschromia, wrinkles, pores, and pigmentation. The treatment is safe for all skin types from fair to dark.
What is the difference between Radiofrequency and Lasers?
Radiofrequency energy creates heat in a pyramid type shape deep in to the skin. This means that there is more heat deposited deeper down in the skin than at the top. This is different to an ablative laser that sends down a column of skin. It is this larger coagulative dermal (deeper) zone caused by radiofrequency devices that make them a better choice for darker skin types as there is less risk of damage to the top colour layer of the skin.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT?
There is minimal downtime after having Radiofrequency treatment. You may experience mild redness which should disappear within a day or two. You will be given instructions about how to care for your skin in the first 48 hours following treatment.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Usually 4-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is desirable. With top up and maintenance every 6-12 months.
